Pototan HVI falls in drug sting; P1-M ‘shabu’ seized

ILOILO – A high-value individual (HVI) was arrested while more than P1 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Pototan Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Barangay Cato-ogan, Pototan, Iloilo at around 12:15 p.m. on June 6.

Police identified the suspect as alias “Ian,” 28, who was placed under surveillance for several months prior to the operation.

Seized from the suspect were seven heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 150 grams of suspected shabu approximately valued at P1,020,000, along with buy-bust money and other non-drug evidence.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly sourced illegal drugs from Iloilo City and distributed them in Pototan and nearby municipalities.

Police records also revealed that the suspect had previously been arrested for a similar offense in 2018 and was released in 2021 after availing of plea bargaining.

The suspect is currently under the custody of Pototan MPS, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
