MANILA — Akari Power Chargers snapped their two-game losing streak in emphatic fashion, overpowering the winless PLDT High Speed Hitters, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22, to register their first victory in the 2026-27 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series on Tuesday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Determined to recover from back-to-back defeats to Creamline and Capital1, the Power Chargers displayed improved offensive execution and solid floor defense to complete the straight-set victory in just one hour and 28 minutes.

Libero Justine Jazareno anchored Akari’s defensive effort with 15 excellent digs and a 31-percent reception efficiency, earning Best Player of the Game honors.

“We just enjoyed the game and responded to coach Ed’s (Orcullo) reminder that we played with passion,” Jazareno said.

Christine Soyud spearheaded the Power Chargers’ balanced offense with 12 points, while Fifi Sharma contributed seven markers.

Jyne Soreño, Faith Nisperos and Ivy Lacsina chipped in six points apiece as Akari exploited PLDT’s defensive lapses to dictate the tempo of the match.

The Power Chargers dominated the attacking department with 41 attack points against the High Speed Hitters’ 30, while both squads registered five blocks each.

Akari also capitalized on PLDT’s errors, collecting 27 points from its opponent’s miscues while surrendering 22 points through its own mistakes.

PLDT, meanwhile, continued its dismal start to the conference, suffering its third consecutive defeat to remain winless at 0-3.

Jessa Ordiales paced the High Speed Hitters with 10 points, followed by Kim Dy with seven.

Savi Davison was held to just five points, while Mika Reyes managed four as PLDT struggled to establish a consistent offensive rhythm against Akari’s defense.

The victory gave the Power Chargers a much-needed boost after their disappointing opening assignments and improved their record to 1-2.

Meanwhile, Capital1 Solar Spikers sustained their winning momentum with a hard-fought 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 15-8 triumph over ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.

Mhicaela Belen delivered another outstanding all-around performance, erupting for 29 points while recording 16 excellent digs and 15 excellent receptions to complete another triple-double.

The Solar Spikers overcame a 1-2 set deficit, dominating the fourth frame before pulling away in the deciding fifth set to secure their second consecutive victory.

Capital1 improved to a 2-1 win-loss record, while ZUS Coffee remained without a victory after two matches./PN
