AKLAN – The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has awarded a P208.34 million contract to Bemkar Construction and Supply for the dredging of Alegria Port in Buruanga town in this province.
The agency has accepted the contractor’s bid of P208,339,721.50 on July 3, 2024 as the lowest calculated and responsive bidder among eight qualified contractors.
On July 19, 2024, PPA general manager Jay Daniel Santiago issued the Notice to Proceed to the contractor from Daet, Camarines Norte.
The dredging works include excavation along berths and maneuvering areas of Alegria Port to designed depths of 6.00 and 11.0 meter below Mean Lower Low Water and the disposal of 417,000 cu.m. dredged soil materials about 15 kilometers away from the project site.Seven other bidders that submitted their proposals were Khan Kon Chi Construction and Development Corporation, WTG Construction and Development Corporation, Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corporation, SB Construction Corporation, MAC Builders Corporation, Luzviminda Engineering, and Sunwest Incorporated.
The project will be completed within 470 calendar days from the receipt of the Notice to Proceed.
Last month, the state-run PPA also awarded the P743,977,945.89 contract to International Builders Corporation for the construction of cruise ship port in Barangay Alegria./PN
