CAPIZ – The President Roxas Municipal Police Station, under the leadership of Police Major Alfred De Leon, reported notable accomplishments in maintaining peace and order from January to August 2025.
In a local radio interview, De Leon said their operations led to the arrest of seven suspects for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
Three individuals were also apprehended for violations of RA 1095, which regulates dangerous drugs and ammunition.
Police operations further resulted in four arrests for illegal logging and four for illegal fishing. Two wanted persons were also captured by virtue of warrants of arrest, while 21 firearms were recovered in separate operations.
Despite these successes, De Leon raised concern over the incidence of road accidents in the town. He stressed the strict enforcement of RA 4136, or the “Land Transportation and Traffic Code,” to curb vehicular mishaps.
On the overall peace and order situation, De Leon reported that nearby Pontevedra town remains stable and orderly, crediting this to the strong support of the local government, barangay officials, and residents.
The police chief also underscored the station’s community engagement initiatives, which include distributing information pamphlets, holding symposiums, and conducting barangay visitations. The station continues to strengthen the 911 National Emergency Hotline program of the Philippine National Police, which assures residents of a five-minute response time to emergency calls.
De Leon emphasized that the success of their initiatives depends on close cooperation among authorities, local government units, and the community. He expressed optimism that their collective efforts will further sustain peace and security in President Roxas./PN
