PRO-6, 3ID: No loyalty check over Acorda’s term extension

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) will not conduct a loyalty check among its ranks after President Marcos extended the term of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor said there is no truth to the alleged destabilization.

Hindi tayo mag-conduct ng loyalty check kasi may tiwala tayo sa mga pulis natin. The moment na nag sumpa tayo bilang pulis, naroon na ang loyalty sa ating organization,” Villaflor said.

He added that there is nothing wrong with extending the term of a PNP chief.

These statements were made after allegations that some senior police officers were seeking clarification on why Acorda was still in his post even after he reached the mandatory retirement age of 56.

Acorda’s term has been extended by the president until March 31 of this year.

On the other hand, the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) shared the same statements with the PRO-6.

3ID spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel J-Jay Javines said all soldiers are loyal to the organization and the administration.

Sa laki na ng sahod natin, wala namang sundalo siguro na mag-create ng destabilization, and we believe our soldiers are loyal and they’re dedicated to serving our country,” Javines said./PN
