ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is intensifying security measures by enhancing police presence and strengthening law enforcement operations across the region to ensure a safe, orderly and peaceful Yuletide season.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, PRO-6 director, said the police force is now on heightened alert in line with the “Ligtas Paskuhan 2025” operational guidelines.
“Christmas is one of the most anticipated seasons in the region. We assure the public that PRO-6 is fully prepared to secure all holiday-related activities so families can celebrate peacefully,” Ligan said.
He said more police personnel will be detailed in parks, churches, public plazas, transport hubs, seaports, airports, and commercial areas across the region to effectively manage the surge of activities, travel and gatherings that traditionally come with the holiday season.
PRO-6 will also deploy mobile and foot patrol units in crowd-drawing areas, establish police assistance desks (PADs) in strategic locations, and strictly monitor crime-prone areas, especially during peak shopping and travel periods.
Ligan added that to guarantee maximum public safety, special attention will be directed to some activities like night markets and Christmas bazaars, Simbang Gabi and other religious gatherings, concerts, light-up ceremonies, and other local Paskuhan events, and bus terminals, ports, and airports due to expected surges in passengers.
PRO-6 will likewise reinforce anti-criminality initiatives and public awareness campaigns to remind communities to stay vigilant against theft, scams, and illegal firecrackers throughout the holiday season.
Regional specialized units, including the Explosives and Ordnance Division and Canine Unit, the Regional Maritime Unit, the Traffic Management Unit, and the Tourist Police will be deployed to further strengthen security operations across the region.
