
ILOILO – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) honored the two police officers wounded in the improvised explosive device (IED) blasts in Tubungan town.
Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, PRO-6 director, spearheaded the pinning of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) “Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting” to Police Corporal Genel Simpas and Patrolman Jessie Castamado of the 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) on Tuesday at the Western Visayas Medical Center.
The PRO-6 paid the hospital bills of the two personnel, according to Miranda.
Miranda also gave them cash from the PRO-6 and from his personal pocket.
Simpas and Castamado were wounded when two IEDs exploded on Oct. 24 in the boundary of barangays Mayang and Jolason.
Tagged culprits were members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army led by “Ka Bebong” under the Southern Front Committee, Komite Rehiyon Panay.
