ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) recorded a 38.09-percent decline in the region’s eight focus crimes in July 2026 compared to the same month last year, with rape cases posting the steepest decrease.
Data from PRO-6 showed that focus crime incidents dropped to 104 in July 2026 from 168 in July 2025, or 64 fewer cases.
Rape cases registered the biggest decline, falling by 78.26 percent from 46 cases in July 2025 to just 10 cases in July this year.
Other crime categories also posted decreases, including motorcycle carnapping, which dropped from 13 cases to three; murder, from 14 to 10; physical injuries, from 30 to 24; robbery, from 13 to 11; and theft, from 44 to 38.
Homicide cases remained unchanged at eight, while no motor vehicle carnapping case was recorded in July 2026.
Among the provincial and city police offices, the Antique Police Provincial Office posted the highest reduction in focus crimes at 68.42 percent, followed by the Guimaras Police Provincial Office with 66.66 percent. The Aklan Police Provincial Office and the Iloilo City Police Office each recorded a 50-percent decline.
Police Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño, acting regional director of PRO-6, credited the sustained reduction in crime to intensified police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, stronger coordination among police units, and continued public cooperation.
“The decline in focus crimes is the result of intensified police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, close coordination among units, and the active support of the public. We will continue to strengthen law enforcement and crime prevention efforts to keep every community in Western Visayas safe,” Tuaño said.
Despite the positive trend, PRO-6 said it will not lower its guard and will continue to intensify anti-criminality operations, intelligence gathering, police visibility, and community engagement as part of its campaign for a safer Western Visayas under the Philippine National Police’s responsive, trusted, and transformative policing program./PN
