ILOILO — A region-wide manhunt by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) led to the arrest of 3,456 wanted persons across Western Visayas in 2025, an aggressive law enforcement push that police leaders say will intensify further this year.
From January 1 to December 31, 2025, police units carried out 3,359 operations that resulted in the capture of 704 most wanted persons and 2,752 other wanted individuals, marking one of the region’s most extensive anti-crime campaigns in recent years.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office recorded the highest number of arrests with 962 apprehensions, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office with 408, and the Antique Police Provincial Office with 361, as provincial and city units combined efforts to track down fugitives across the region.
PRO-6 regional director Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan credited the results to disciplined police work and strong community cooperation, stressing that the campaign will not ease up.
“This accomplishment is a testament to our unwavering commitment and discipline in holding those who violate the law accountable. We are determined to continue our efforts in 2026 to ensure that Western Visayas remains a safe and secure place for all,” Ligan said.
Ligan emphasized that public participation played a crucial role in the success of the operations, citing timely reports and citizen vigilance as force multipliers.
“Our community plays a pivotal role in this success. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and continue working hand in hand with us to foster peace and security across Western Visayas,” he added.
The PRO-6 chief also called for sustained collaboration among police, local government units, and other stakeholders to keep criminal activity in check.
“Together with local government leaders, force multipliers, and other stakeholders, we can promote a safer and more progressive environment for our communities,” Ligan said./PN
