ILOILO City – Around P169 million worth of illegal drugs were seized and 803 suspects were apprehended in six months of antidrug operations across Panay Island.
From January to June this year, various units under the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) confiscated 24,551 grams of shabu valued at approximately P166,949 million and 17,315 grams of marijuana worth P2.07 million from a total of 634 operations.
PRO-6 data also showed that of those arrested, 237 were tagged as high-value targets, 546 were street-level targets, and 20 newly identified drug peddlers.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) reported the largest drug seizure, with P71.4 million worth of illegal substances, followed by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) at P63.5 million, and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6) with P21.6 million.
“These figures reflected our unwavering dedication to our campaign to eradicate illegal drugs in every community. We have to continue building strong relationships with the public and enhancing our collaboration with various government agencies and stakeholders. With their support, we can identify those engaged in these unlawful activities and hold them accountable,” said PRO-6 director Brigadier Josefino Ligan.
All arrested suspects are currently in police custody, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
