ILOILO City – Around 200 grams of suspected shabu approximately valued at P1.4 million were confiscated across Western Visayas from January 21 to 22.
According to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), the four anti-drug operations also led to the arrest of five suspects: three high-value individuals (HVIs) and two street-level targets.
The biggest haul was in Dumangas, Iloilo on January 21. Joint operatives of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station’s (MPS) Drug Enforcement Team and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Group arrested alias “Sanok,” 52, an HVI, in Barangay Tambobo. He yielded 75 grams of the aforementioned illegal substance worth P510,000.
On the same day, alias “Gian,” 35, of Jaro, Iloilo City, was apprehended by elements of Iloilo City Police Station 3 during a buy-bust operation at around 9 p.m. in Barangay Dungon B, Jaro. Police seized P374,000 worth of suspected shabu.
All four suspects were detained, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
Police Brigadier Josefino Ligan, PRO-6 director, said these accomplishments stemmed from sustained intelligence-driven efforts, enhanced coordination among operating units, and critical tips provided by community members.
He reiterated that public cooperation remains vital in identifying drug personalities and ensuring successful operations.
“These results underscore the unwavering dedication of the men and women of PRO-6 in safeguarding Western Visayas from the threat of illegal drugs. Our campaign will remain sustained and relentless, and we continue to call on the public to actively support our efforts by reporting drug-related activities, as we work together to protect our communities,” Ligan added./PN
