ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has called on residents across Western Visayas to become active partners in securing the 128th Philippine Independence Day celebration, urging the public to immediately report suspicious individuals, activities, and unattended items.

“We encourage the public to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with authorities to help ensure a peaceful, meaningful, and orderly observance of this important national occasion,” said Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño, regional police director.

A total of 5,292 police officers, security personnel, and force multipliers have been mobilized across the region to secure commemorative activities, public gatherings, transportation hubs, and other convergence areas expected to draw large crowds during the national holiday.

While authorities have not monitored any major security threats related to the Independence Day celebration, PRO-6 said it remains vigilant and prepared to respond to any untoward incident.

Tuaño urged residents to remain alert. He advised the public to contact emergency hotline 911 or the nearest police station for any security concern.

PRO-6’s security contingent today includes 4,430 Philippine National Police personnel, 101 members of partner agencies, and 761 force multipliers who will be stationed in strategic locations to provide security coverage, traffic management, public assistance, and emergency response services.

“As we commemorate our nation’s independence, PRO6 remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding every Filipino in Western Visayas,” Tuaño said.

He directed all provincial, city, and municipal police commanders to maximize police visibility and strengthen coordination with local government units, partner agencies, and other stakeholders to prevent security threats and maintain public order during the celebration.

Under the security plan, police personnel will be deployed at ceremonial venues, plazas, transportation terminals, major thoroughfares, and other public places where large numbers of people are expected to gather./PN
