PRO-6 warns poll bets on ‘permit-to-campaign’ fees

KALIBO, Aklan – The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) reminded the May midterm poll candidates in Western Visayas to ignore the demands of the communist rebels.

“We are putting extra security measures to stop the alleged ‘illegal practice’ of the New People’s Army,” said PRO-6 spokeswoman Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong.

PRO-6 has proposed some areas or special treatments to Commission on Elections and the Regional Joint Security Coordinating Center as precautions for the deployment of law enforcers, said Malong.

“This is the time for lawless elements to take advantage of the local and national elections. Don’t give in to their demands,” she stressed.

Malong, however, admitted there are still poll bets that pay ‘fees’ due to security threats.

She said that they will continue intensifying the loose firearms campaign and election hotspot

monitoring in the region. (With Akean Forum/PN)
