ILOILO City – This holiday season, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is calling on the public to remain vigilant against individuals using the name of the Philippine National Police (PNP), its units, or its officials to solicit money, goods, or any form of assistance.
Police Major Lailyn Sencil, PRO-6 spokesperson, reminded the public especially business establishment owners that any form of solicitation using the name of the PNP this Christmas season is strictly prohibited.
“As of now, we never receive reports of online scamming or solicitation, but we are warning businessmen and the public ahead of time that PRO-6 or our regional director, Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, does not or will not solicit. So be aware of it. If in case someday we’ll send solicitation letters, please get in touch with us to confirm before giving money or goods,” Sencil said.
Earlier, Ligan directed all city and provincial directors, and police chiefs not to entertain or respond to solicitation messages. He urged the public to stay cautious and immediately report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
“Scammers would take advantage this Christmas para maka-kwarta gamit mga names sang organization or even name ni PRO-6 director Ligan to earn money,” Sencil added.

The PRO-6 is also asking help from the media to coordinate with the PNP if they have information about online scamming activity for quick response and possible arrest of the scammers./PN
