ILOILO City – In one of its most extensive single-day anti-drug operations this year, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) dismantled multiple drug networks across Western Visayas, arresting 12 suspects and confiscating over P2.1 million worth of suspected shabu.
Police reports revealed that between the morning of October 23 and 24, law enforcers launched seven coordinated buy-bust operations that led to the seizure of 311 grams of shabu.
Of those arrested, five were tagged as high-value individuals (HVIs) while seven were identified as street-level individuals (SLIs).
One of the major operations, conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU), resulted in the arrest of four cousins found in possession of 135 grams of suspected shabu.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) nabbed two more suspects in separate operations in Barangay Lawigan, San Joaquin, and Poblacion South, Oton, yielding 140 grams of shabu.
The suspects are now under police custody and will face charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan lauded the units involved for their synchronized efforts, saying the results demonstrate the region’s intensified crackdown on illegal drugs.
“Our fight against illegal drugs continues with the same intensity and determination. We will not stop until every community in Western Visayas becomes safe, peaceful, and free from the influence of illegal drugs,” said Ligan.
