Pro-federalism rally today

BACOLOD City – Thousands are expected to join the nationwide rally for federalism in the country today.

One of the venues of the demonstration, which is spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), is the Negros Occidental town of Isabela.

There will be three take-off points for a morning caravan – Canlaon City in Negros Oriental and Kabankalan and Bacolod cities in Negros Occidental.

The participants are expected to arrive in Isabela at noontime. A boodle fight will follow.

The rally will start at the Isabela municipal public plaza at 2 p.m.

Isabela mayor Joselito Malabor said Venus Aquino of the Special Project Management Office for Federalism under the DILG and other DILG officials will grace the event.

During the rally, participants will distribute information education campaign materials about federalism.

Last year, Isabela hosted a three-day convention on federalism, from Sept. 9 to 11.

Around 600 participants from several government offices and private sectors attended the convention.

Days before it, the Sangguniang Bayan of Isabela passed a resolution supporting the creation of the Federal State of Negros./PN
