BACOLOD City — With the anticipated “Trillion Peso March 2.0” set this Sunday, November 30, alongside the commemoration of Bonifacio Day, the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has declared full readiness and heightened alert status to ensure a safe and orderly event.
PRO-NIR expects the mass march to draw thousands of participants from various sectors, advocacy groups, and youth organizations across Negros Island. While organizers are set to voice concerns on governance and public accountability, police officials anticipate a generally peaceful gathering.
As part of its security measures, PRO-NIR will deploy 2,000 police personnel across key areas to manage crowds, maintain traffic flow, respond to emergencies, and monitor any potential security concerns. The police force will work in close coordination with local government units, emergency responders, and other partner agencies under a comprehensive security and public safety plan.
PRO-NIR emphasized that it will uphold the constitutional rights of participants while safeguarding peace and community welfare.
“The PRO-NIR is fully committed to ensuring that the November 30 activity is conducted safely, peacefully, and orderly. We respect the people’s right to peaceful assembly, and it is our duty to protect that right while safeguarding the welfare of the entire community,” said Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR regional director.
He also urged the public to cooperate with authorities throughout the event. “Through the unified efforts of security forces, partner agencies, and the community, PRO-NIR assures that all protocols are fully in place to maintain peace and order during the Trillion Peso March 2.0.”
No significant threats have been detected as of this time, but the regional police will remain on heightened alert to ensure public safety./PN
