Provincial task force tackles security, anti-drug initiatives in Capiz

CAPIZ — The Provincial Government of Capiz convened a joint meeting of key peace and security councils on May 13, 2026, to discuss ongoing efforts to maintain peace and order and strengthen the province’s anti-drug campaign.

The second quarter meeting brought together members of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC), the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), and the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC).

Gov. Fredenil H. Castro, who chairs the three councils, presided over the meeting.

Castro underscored the importance of regular coordination among local government units and national government agencies in addressing security concerns and ensuring public safety throughout the province.

Representatives from several agencies presented updates on their respective programs and the prevailing peace and order situation in Capiz.

Participating agencies included the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Among the agenda items discussed was a draft resolution creating a Technical Working Group for the Provincial Operations and Programs Support (POPS) Plan, which aims to provide a more structured approach to addressing emerging security concerns.

The councils also approved the formation of a Special Action Committee that will focus on anti-insurgency efforts, crime prevention, public safety, and crisis management.

Local chief executives and other officials also attended the meeting and shared insights on community-based initiatives and the role of local leadership in supporting provincial peace and order programs.

The quarterly meeting reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to working closely with government agencies and local leaders to curb illegal activities and maintain a peaceful and secure environment for all Capisnons./PN
