Prov’l governors to discuss various pressing matters

ILOILO – The proposed federal constitution. Internal Revenue Allotment. Tax reform. These are some of the matters that the sixth general assembly of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) would tackle on Aug. 10 in Makati City.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. is attending the assembly.

Politics and the 2019 election may also be discussed, he said.

“Indi man ina ma-avoid,” said Defensor.

A letter sent to Defensor by LPP national president Gov. Ryan Luis Singson of Ilocos Sur listed the following agenda:

* final draft of the Federal Constitution submitted by the Consultative Committee (ConCom) to the President and to Congress; the speakers are House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Cong. Karlo Nograles

* Supreme Court Decision (SC GR Nos. 199802 and 208488) on the Internal Revenue Allotment of local governments; the speaker is Batangas’ Gov. Hermilando Mandanas

* Comprehensive Tax Reform Program: Corporate Tax Reform; the speaker is Undersecretary Karl Kendrick Chua of the Department of Finance

* President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation 2018 instructions to local governments; the speaker is Gov. Al Francis Bichara, national chairman of LPP.

* new Commission on Elections guideline on the filing of certificate of candidacy for the 2019 midterm elections; speakers are Comelec chairman Sheriff M. Abas and Commissioner Al A. Parreño

* Sangguniang Kabataan fund
