BACOLOD City – The local government here is set to provide push carts to 31 qualified vendors operating at the Bacolod Public Plaza as part of its livelihood and orderliness initiative.
Mayor Greg Gasataya confirmed in a recent media interview that he has already signed the Program of Works for the implementation of the Push Cart Project under his administration.
According to the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office (CCLDO), the project aims to distribute 31 units of standardized push carts to organized market vendors at the Bacolod Vendors Plaza.
Each push cart will serve as a portable vending unit designed for food and goods selling, promoting livelihood enhancement, orderliness, and sanitation within the plaza area.
The push carts, measuring one meter by one meter (1m x 1m), will be locally fabricated using durable materials and painted for easy identification. Each will be equipped with four wheels for mobility.
The cost per unit is P15,000, bringing the total project cost to P465,000.
The initiative aims to organize vending activities, improve mobility and operational efficiency of micro and small vendors, and provide sustainable livelihood support under the city’s three percent Cooperative and Livelihood Development Fund.
Mayor Gasataya added that aside from the push carts, the city will also provide financial assistance to the beneficiaries to help them sustain their businesses.
He further noted that the project aligns with City Ordinance No. 1009, Series of 2022, which regulates vending activities and allows qualified vendors to operate legally within the Bacolod Public Plaza./PN
