ILOILO City – Thousands of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators in Western Visayas will begin receiving fuel cash subsidies today and tomorrow, April 24 to 25.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 6 is rolling out its first batch of financial assistance aimed at cushioning the impact of rising fuel costs.
LTFRB-6 announced the schedule through its official Facebook page, confirming that the subsidy distribution will take place at its regional office in Barangay Quintin Salas, Jaro district here, with an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 beneficiaries expected to receive assistance based on initial data.
Drivers and operators were advised to bring the required documents, including their original driver’s license and photocopies with specimen signatures, to facilitate the orderly release of funds.
Upon arrival at the LTFRB regional office, beneficiaries must locate their names on the payroll list, note their assigned counter and payroll number, and proceed accordingly for verification and payout.
They must also sign the payroll upon receipt of the subsidy.
LTFRB-6 also encouraged beneficiaries to review their designated schedules and full details through its official link or Facebook page.
The subsidy distribution follows a structured allocation depending on the type of transport service and beneficiary classification.
For modern public utility jeepneys, operators will receive P10,000 per unit, while drivers will be given P1,500.
Operators of modern utility vehicle express services will also receive P10,000 per unit, with drivers allotted P5,000.
Traditional public utility jeepney operators are set to receive P5,000 per unit, with drivers getting P1,500.
For traditional utility vehicle express services, both operators and drivers will receive P5,000 each.
Public utility bus operators will be granted P10,000 per unit, while drivers will receive P5,000.
Other transport sectors are also included in the program.
School transport services will receive P5,000 each for both operators and drivers.
Transport network vehicle service operators will be allotted P1,500, while taxi operators will receive P2,000 and their drivers will receive P5,000.
Neva Jane Alfaras, LTFRB-6 Administrative Officer V, said the differentiated subsidy structure is designed to reflect the varying operational demands across transport sectors.
