MANILA – The camp of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is mulling to file a motion for reconsideration after the Philippine National Police canceled his firearms registration and license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF).

Quiboloy’s lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon, said they are still waiting for the ruling from the PNP chief Rommel Marbil to clarify which section of the law they based their revocation on.

Torreon added they will contest it if the PNP’’s Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) used the Section 4 (g) of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in the cancellation of Quiboloy’s gun license.

Section 4 is on gun license revocation to an applicant that has not been convicted or is currently an accused in a pending criminal case before any court of law for a crime that is punishable with a penalty of more than two years.

“If it is true that he based it on Section 4 (g), then we will file a Motion for Reconsideration to perhaps to bring it to his attention na hindi na po aplikante si pastor,” Torreon said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel.

“He has already been granted the license, so therefore Section 39 applies and it requires conviction before his license to own may be revoked or canceled,” the lawyer added.

Last April 23, the PNP’s Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) forwarded to Marbil’s office its recommendation to cancel or revoke the LTOPF of Quiboloy, who has existing arrest warrants on charges of child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking, exploitation, and discrimination.

FEO’s recommendation was released a day after Senator Risa Hontiveros urged the PNP chief to “lead better,” saying that the police may now confiscate Quiboloy’s guns based on his pending cases under the implementing rules and regulations of the PNP./PN
