MANILA – Gearing up for the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup starting Sept. 20, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and NorthPort Batang Pier have brought in imports who have previously played in the league.

The Painters tapped the services of Joel Wright who previously played for the Magnolia Hotshots while Batang Pier signed up Mychal Ammons who had played for TNT KaTropa.

Painters head coach Carlos Garcia confirmed the signing of Wright – the second former Hotshots’ reinforcement to play for ROS after Denzel Bowles in the Commissioner’s Cup.

In his previous stint with the Hotshots, Wright averaged 28.4 points, 14.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.4 blocks.

He normed 15.5 points, 4.3 boards, 2.5 steals and 1.3 rejections in his last import stint with BBC Monthey in Switzerland.

Ammons is also making a return to the league after three years since coming in to KaTropa as replacement for Mario Little leading the squad to the semifinals before bowing to Meralco Bolts in four games.

During his stint with the KaTropa, the 27-year-old Ammons averaged 14.75 points, 12.92 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in his 12 games.

Before moving to the Batang Pier, Ammons played in Mexico with Zonkeys de Tijuana, where he netted 17.1 points, 8.7 boards, 2.8 assists, and 1.4 steals./PN
