‘RAPE’ AT CEMETERY: Oton woman says 2 men sexually assaulted her

ILOILO City – An 18-year-old woman accused two residents of Oton, Iloilo of raping her at a cemetery in the town on All Saints’ Day.

The two suspects were quick to turn the tables on the woman, who they claimed was the one who actually led them to the sexual act.

Police identified the suspects as Jahn Casey Agreda, 26, of Barangay Poblacion South, Oton and Jethro Amulat, 30, of Barangay San Antonio, Oton.

The woman reported to the police that she went to visit the graves of her departed relatives late evening on Oct. 31 when she found the two men on a drinking binge.

Agreda invited her to join them but she refused, she told the police.

At around 1 a.m. on Nov. 1, the woman found a dark area at the cemetery where she could urinate, but the two men followed her, and then raped her, she said.

The men threatened to hurt her if she shouts for help or tells anyone about what happened, she further said.

Still, the woman reported to the municipal police, who then arrested the two men at the cemetery at around 2 p.m.

Admitting to the sexual act, the men insisted that they never forced the woman.

In a radio interview, Amulat said the woman kissed Agreda and invited him to join them, and showed them a sex video on her mobile phone.

The complainant had undergone a medical exam. A positive result will be used in filing rape charges against the suspects, said Chief Inspector Gervinson Moyo, Oton police chief.

“The suspects will be charged despite their denials as soon as the victims’ affidavit and the evidence we need are available,” Moyo said./PN
