ILOILO City – In Barangay Carolina, Leon, Iloilo, a man allegedly hanged himself.
According to Police Lieutenant Melchor Tolentino, Leon police chief, 23-year-old Nelson (not his real name) was found hanging from a tree around 7 p.m. on Sept. 5.
Initial police investigation linked Nelson to the rape of his live-in partner’s 16-year-old niece.
“Maybe it’s because of guilt, or he was afraid the girl’s family would harm him,” Tolentino told Panay News.
Nelson’s live-in partner was reportedly working in Manila.
“We considered this rape case closed because the suspect was already dead,” said Tolentino./PN
