CAPIZ – Re-elected Gov. Fredenil H. Castro officially took his oath of office on June 20, marking the start of his second term as the province’s chief executive.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the governor’s office at the Capiz Provincial Capitol, attended by fellow elected provincial officials — who were also sworn in during the event — as well as family members, friends, department heads, and supporters.
Gov. Castro secured a landslide victory in the recent midterm elections, defeating two independent candidates: former governor Esteban Evan “Nonoy” B. Contreras and Cristopher Barrio. He garnered over 301,613 votes, far ahead of Contreras’ 47,983 and Barrio’s nearly 3,000.
First elected governor in 2022 after serving several terms as the 2nd District’s representative, Castro’s reelection is widely seen as a strong endorsement of his leadership by the people of Capiz.
In his speech, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the provincial government and advancing development initiatives for a more prosperous Capiz.
Joining him in the oath-taking ceremony were Dumalag’s Mayor Ma. Concepcion “Khuku” Castro; Atty. Luvim D. Amores, the Provincial Information Officer and concurrent head of the Human Resource Management Office; and newly elected Mambusao’s Sangguniang Bayan member John “Jun-jun” V. Laurilla.
Also sworn into office were the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan: Blesilda Almalbis, Emmanuel Billones Jr., Trina Marie Ignacio, and Cesar Yap of the 1st District; and Neriza Joy San Felix, Aldwin Cruz-am, Ma. Ivy Fundal, Gilbert Ardivilla, and Cecilio Fecundo of the 2nd District./PN
