BACOLOD City – The mayor of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental revealed that the recent spike in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the city can be traced to trainees of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
Over the weekend, Mayor Rex Jalandoon said 27 of the city’s 34 active COVID-19 cases were BJMP trainees temporarily assigned in the city’s Cubay Training Campus.
These individuals just came back from the Regional Training Center in Bacolod City, Jalandoon said.
“The 27 were found positive for COVID-19 following the swab testing of 400 trainees upon their arrival here,” the mayor added.
The COVID-stricken trainees were currently isolated in the training campus./PN
