BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod asked the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to compel the supplier of the traffic lights at the B.S. Aquino Drive-Narra Avenue intersection to repair the traffic control equipment.
Councilor Caesar Distrito, author of the resolution making the request, said the supplier has “contractual obligation and warranty to maintain it and do replacements of materials if necessary.”
Most road intersections here have traffic lights, “installed to put order in the flow of traffic,” but for weeks, some of them have malfunctioned, causing inconvenience to motorists caught in heavy traffic, he said.
“The supplier of the traffic lights were not able to comply with their contractual obligation of providing service warranty despite several reports already made by the concerned city department,” Distrito said.
“An immediate repair of these traffic lights is necessary to avoid such inconvenience to our motorists and once again normalize the flow of traffic on the streets of the city,” the councilor added.
Otherwise, the BTAO — through the City Legal Office — may file appropriate charges against the supplier, Distrito said./PN
