Retired general appointed as new PhilHealth prexy

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) said retired Army general Ricardo “Dick” Morales was set to be appointed as the president of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

DOH secretary Francisco Duque III confirmed Morales’ appointment on Thursday but they were still waiting for the appointment papers from Malacañang before he can assume his post.

Morales was formerly appointed as member of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System board of trustees by President Rodrigo Duterte barely a month ago.

He was set to replace Dr. Roy Ferrer as head of PhilHealth after Duterte ordered the latter to vacate his post over the alleged “ghost” dialysis scam.

After his retirement in 2009, Morales oversaw the operations of the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association Inc./PN
