RMN radio stations capture 72% of Iloilo listenership market

ILONGGOS yearning for accurate and truthful news, tough commentaries and mood-balancing music in this pandemic time have found solace listening to the programs of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN).

Based on the official KBP-Kantar Radio Survey conducted this second quarter of 2021, RMN is the dominant and overall No. 1 radio network in Iloilo City with a total radio listenership market share of 72%, followed by Bombo Radyo Philippines with 12%, and MBC-Aksyon Radyo with 10%.

To date, DYRI RMN Iloilo leads all AM stations with a radio listenership market share of 69% followed by DYFM Bombo Radyo with 23%, DYOK Aksyon Radyo with 7%, and DYSI Super Radyo with 0.62%.

On the FM band, 95.1 IFM Iloilo dominates all FM stations with a 75% market leadership over DYMB Love Radio (10%), DYMK Baranggay FM (5%), DYYS Easy Rock and DYRF Star FM (3% each).

DYRI RMN, which has been No. 1 several times already, further sealed its claim to the listenership throne after the acquisition of broadcast heavyweights Jun Capulot, Don Dolido, John Sapio, and Henry Lumawag who complimented the solid market standing of Eric John Pamplona, Emerson Labrillaso and Regan Arlos. Their presence has further stretched DYRI RMN’s dominance from the previous surveys.

“The all-star team we assembled for DYRI RMN was too much for the competitors to handle,” said DYRI RMN Station Manager Ronel Sorbito.

“We would also like to thank our listeners, fans, advertising clients and partners in local government units for the unwavering support and trust all these years,” added Enrico Canoy, RMN Vice President.

In his Facebook post, DYRI RMN Program Director Novie Guazo dedicated this year’s victory to “the big small men of RMN” referring to the news writers, reporters, administrative staff and technicians “whose workloads have literally doubled due to the social media component of our news operation.”

Meanwhile, 95.1 IFM Station Manager Roderick Cejes said, “This recent victory will further inspire your IFM Idols to give you great music and timely entertainment gimmicks.”

“What make RMN different from the rest are the human touch and the family-like atmosphere every time we deal with people in crisis situations,” added Joel Franco, Special Projects Head of DYRI RMN.

On top of being the first and only 24-hour AM radio station operating in Iloilo, DYRI RMN takes pride with having 1.2 million followers on Facebook, the highest social media following in the entire Visayas region surpassing even most of Metro Manila stations.

On the other hand, 95.1 IFM has the bragging rights of having the widest area of coverage due to its signal reach and audio quality superiority in the FM category.

Remarkable in the survey result is “the walloping lead of RMN in terms of listenership market share reaching up to 72% even if you combine the percentage share of all radio stations in Iloilo,” quipped Henry Lumawag, former Station Manager of DYFM Bombo Radyo and now the lead program host of the No. 1 early night-time program in DYRI RMN.

The KBP-Kantar Radio Survey is the only official radio survey being acknowledged by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas and reputable multinational advertising companies in the country./PN
