Road clearing displaces Sibalom’s PUJ terminal

SAN JOSE, Antique – Sibalom’s public utility jeepney (PUJ) terminal was temporarily transferred to a private lot in compliance with the national road clearing directive of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Town mayor Gian Carlo Occeña on Oct. 2 said the terminal was transferred to a 500-square meter lot on Ramon Maza Sr. Street – borrowed by the municipal government from a resident.

“We borrowed the lot just so we could temporarily transfer the terminal since the municipal government is still processing the lot conversion of agricultural land that was purchased by the municipal government,” Occeña said on Wednesday.

“We are grateful the owner of the lot allowed the municipal government to temporarily use his property for the terminal,” he added, saying there had been no major illegal structures found encroaching on sidewalks since the start of the road clearing operations.

“The structures that were removed were only made of light materials,” added Occeña.(With a report from PNA/PN)
