ILOILO – A 37-year-old woman was hit by a car in Barangay PD Monfort North, Dumangas.
She was declared dead upon arrival at the Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center in Barotac Nuevo town.
The victim, only identified as “Elena,” of Barangay Lublub, Dumangas was often seen by residents under the influence of liquor.
Dumangas police identified the driver of the Toyota Innova as “Emelio,” 63, of Barangay Lublub and a medical health officer at the Dumangas Rural Health Unit.
Police Major Ken Albert Lepsia, chief of Dumangas police, said the victim was allegedly drunk and was crossing the dark portion of the road on Sunday night, Oct. 1.
Meanwhile, Emelio is in the custody of the Dumangas police station for proper disposition./PN
