CAPIZ — Roxas City has officially been designated as an additional testing center for the September 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT), according to Resolution No. 2174, Series of 2026.
The designation comes as welcome news for aspiring teachers in the region who will now be able to take the board examination closer to home.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), which administers professional licensure examinations nationwide, approved the designation following a request from the Office of the City Mayor.
The resolution highlights the growing demand for more accessible testing centers, particularly for examinees who face financial and logistical difficulties in traveling to distant provinces.
In a statement posted on social media, Mayor Ronnie Dadivas welcomed the development.
“Ginpamatian sang Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) ang aton request nga i-designar ang Roxas City, Capiz bilang dugang nga testing center para sa September 2026 LEPT,” Dadivas said.
The resolution is significant because PRC guidelines require at least 300 prospective examinees before a new testing center for large-scale examinations may be established.
Records showed that 1,341 aspiring teachers are expected to take the LEPT in Roxas City, reflecting the strong interest among residents in pursuing careers in education.
“Indi na kinahanglan magkadto sa iban nga probinsya kag magastuhan sang mas daku agud magkuha sang exam ang linibo naton ka kasimanwa nga nagahandum nga mangin Professional Teachers sa palaabuton,” the mayor added.
Dadivas said the establishment of a local testing center would ease the financial burden on examinees who would otherwise need to travel to other provinces and spend more on transportation, lodging, and other expenses.
The designation of Roxas City as a LEPT testing center also reflects the local government’s commitment to supporting education and expanding access to professional opportunities in the province.
Officials said preparations for the September 2026 examination are expected to intensify in the coming months to ensure that all necessary facilities and resources are in place to accommodate examinees from Roxas City and neighboring areas.
