ROXAS City – This city is the only local government unit (LGUs) in Panay Island to make it to 2021 Galing Pook Awards’ Top 20 finalists.
The Galing Pook Awards is a pioneering program that searches and recognizes innovative practices by LGUs. These practices provide useful insights and strategies to find innovative solutions to common problems. More importantly, they affirm the community and the local government’s commitment to good governance.
Roxas City’s “Unified Pandemic Operational Deployment (UPOD) Kita” program made it to the finals.
“Isa ini ka dako nga pagkilala sa tampad nga serbisyo sang Roxas City Government bisan damo nga panghangkat ang gina-atubang naton,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas through his Facebook page.
Negros Occidental’s “Network of Alliance for Coastal Wetlands Conversation” program also made it to the Top 20 finalists.
Other finalist were Agusan del Sur, Albay, Bugallon (Pangasinan), Davao de Oro, Manila City, Alabat (Quezon), Baliwag (Bulacan), Malabon City, Ormoc City (Leyte), Quezon City, San Juan City, Tanawan (Batangas), Valenzuela City (with three entries), Pasig City, and Tagum City (Davao Del Norte).
The virtual awarding ceremony is on Oct. 20, 4 p.m. Only 10 outstanding programs will be recognized as Galing Pook awardees.
