Roxas City readies fund for anti-dengue drive

ROXAS City – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) has allowed the use of Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund Utilization (LDRRMF) – Quick Response Fund (QRF) Utilization Plan for its campaign against dengue.

This was following last week’s emergency meeting led by City Administrator Lorie Belle “Love” O. Usison on behalf of Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, to discuss measures to prevent the further increase of dengue cases and management of patients, IV fluids, dengue test kits, and chemical for spraying and fogging, and ensuring sufficient blood supply.

The fund approval was also in response to the recent declaration of a state of calamity in Capiz province due to dengue outbreak.

As of September 4, this city recorded 640 cases with one death. This figure is 433 percent higher than the 120 cases listed in the same period in 2023.

The CDRRMC, meanwhile, reminded residents anew to always practice the 5S strategy against dengue: search and destroy mosquito breeding sites; self-protection like using of insect repellents; seek early consultation at the nearest health care facility; support fogging, spraying, and misting in hotspot areas; and sustain hydration./PN
