ILOILO City – Roxas City in Capiz has the biggest population among cities and municipalities in Western Visayas, according to the 2015 Census of Population.
The report said Roxas City has 167,003 people. It is followed by Oton town in Iloilo province with 89,115; Kalibo, Aklan with 80,605; Passi City, Iloilo with 80,544; and Pototan town, Iloilo with 75,070.
Meanwhile, Western Visayan ranked 10th in the National Counting Ranking, with 4.48 million population, comprising 4.43 percent of the total Philippine population.
The population percentage of the region increases annually, registering a 1.25-percent average annual increase during the 2010-2015 period.
The report also said Iloilo province has the biggest population (1.94 million) among all provinces in Western Visayas. It is followed by Capiz with 761,000 and Antique with 575,000.
Belison town in Antique is the least populated municipality in Region 6 with 13,539 persons, followed by Bingawan, Iloilo with 15,539 persons; and Lezo, Aklan with 15,224 persons./PN
