ROXAS City – Residents of Barangay Lawaan want a police officer and his father, a retired officer, out of their village.
Forty-one families of Kilometer 2 filed before Barangay Captain Elvis Asis a petition asking Police Officer 1 Archie Ian Garcia and father Richard to leave.
They accused the younger Garcia of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group of frustrated homicide, indiscriminate firing and kicking a resident.
Asis said the complaining villagers were seeking “immediate action.”
“Their neighbors would always complain that the Garcia father and son were causing alarm and scandal,” the barangay captain said.
“This new complaint started after Officer Garcia discharged his gun and nearly hit the wife of a drinking buddy,” said Asis.
Officer Garcia was binge-drinking binge with Elizar Albarece and other friends at a sari-sari (variety) store on Jan. 18. When Albarece and the others started leaving, the policeman got irked and got unruly, Asis said.
Garcia drew his firearm fired, almost hitting Albarece’s wife. He also kicked store customer Pio Destajo on the back and called him a “drug addict.”
“Albarece and Destajo will file criminal charges against Officer Garcia,” said Asis.
