ILOILO City – Students are back in school. Lawless elements such as swindlers or thieves could be working overdrive to take advantage of them.

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has a safety tip to students: Don’t talk to strangers.

“Kung may mag-approach na hindi nila kilala, huwag sumama,” said Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, regional police director.

Classes in public schools resumed on Aug. 22. Francisco detailed police officers in schools. Students, parents and teachers can seek assistance from them.

“If they are being threatened, pwede sila mag-report sa pulis,” Francisco told Panay News.

But while policemen are there to help, the police director also emphasized that parents have a big role to play in keeping their children safe.

Among others, he said, parents must constantly remind children to stay away from strangers.

“The modus operandi of the Budol-budol Gang is to pretend na kilala nila ang parents ng bibiktimahin nila at sabihin na sumama sa kanila kasi inutusan sila na susunduin. Marami silang diskarte para mang-biktima,” said Fracisco.

He also reminded policemen to be observant and be prepared to respond quickly to emergency situations./PN
