THE University of San Agustin (USA) recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Madonna University (MU) of Livonia, Michigan, United States of America, to promote the establishment of joint education and extension programs. The USA is the first university in the Philippines to collaborate with the MU and explore areas on curriculum, English as a Second Language, and recruitment, among others.

To seal the partnership with the USA, Dr. Connie Tingson-Gatuz, Vice President for Student Affairs & Mission Integration and Dr. Mark Schroeder, Director of Undergraduate Admissions of MU personally visited the first university in Western Visayas last Friday, January 11, 2019. Fr. Frederick C. Comendador, O. S. A., University President, headed the welcome party in coordination with Dr. Jonel P. Saludes, Associate Vice President for Research and Global Relations.

Fr. Comendador revealed that the partnership with MU is a product of a healthy exchange of ideas and the warm Franciscan hospitality when he visited the American university almost a decade ago. Dr. Gatuz remarked that the Augustinians and Franciscans share the same values especially in helping the underprivileged.

Joining the signing ceremony were Fr. Manuel M. Vergara, O. S. A., Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Fr. Williener Jack E. Luna, O. S. A., Director of the Philanthropic, External and Alumni Relations.
