San Carlos city mayor urges residents get vaccinated

BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA

Following the completion of the COVID-19 vaccination for Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERT) earlier this week, San Carlos City Mayor Rene Gustilo is now urging the city’s residents to register.

Gustilo told city residents that getting vaccinated is for the betterment of everyone, and pointed out that if they achieve “herd immunity” in the city, they will be able to start returning back to normalcy.

Dr. Jessa Tiapon, Vaccine Deputy Vice Chair for the city’s Emergency Operations Center, said they will not accept walk-in applicants once they start vaccinating the next priority group which is Senior Citizens (A2), followed by those with comorbidities (A3).

Tiapon said applicants should pre-register via the city’s Vamos app.

Earlier this week, 225 BHERTs in the city were successfully inoculated using either CoronaVac COVID-19 vaccine made by Chinese biotech company Sinovac, or the UK-made AstraZeneca vaccine./PN
