BACOLOD City – Eight people including a minor were arrested in a police antidrug operation in Barangay 5, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Officers were targeting the 53-year-old Thelma Dionaso, said Superintendent Arturo Fullero, San Carlos City police chief.

Aside from Dionaso, also arrested were Marco Balasbas, 50; Winston Gadiane, 29; John Paul Dionaso; Jeffrey Dionaso, 25; Niño Gadiane, 22; and Robert Himongala, 20, all residents of the village.

A 16-year-old was arrested, too, and turned over to local social workers.

Seized during the operation around 12:40 p.m. on Thursday were suspected shabu weighing around 5.6 grams and with an estimated market value of P56,000, and drug paraphernalia, Fullero said.

All seven legal aged suspects were detained. They are facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
