BACOLOD City — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has launched its CAMPUSAYA initiative in Negros Occidental to prevent school violence, address online threats, and promote safer learning environments for students.

The initiative was launched on October 23 at Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School in Talisay City, bringing together police officials, education authorities, teachers, parents, students, and community representatives.

Derived from “Campus na Masaya,” CAMPUSAYA is a school violence prevention campaign that promotes early identification of warning signs, responsible reporting of threats, stronger campus security, and coordinated action among schools, families, law enforcement agencies, and communities.

The campaign is anchored on three lines of effort: Resilient Minds, Peer Protection, and Enhanced Campus Security and Response through Community Mobilization.

PRO-NIR director Brig. Gen. Rudecindo L. Reales led the launch, along with Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office director Col. Dennis C. Wenceslao and Negros Occidental Schools Division superintendent Gladys Amylaine D. Sales, among other officials.

Reales emphasized that protecting learners requires proactive measures and shared responsibility among schools, parents, police, and the wider community.

He urged students to stand against bullying, report threats through appropriate channels, and look out for one another, stressing that cooperation among stakeholders is essential to maintaining safe school environments.

“Let us turn our concern into action and our partnership into protection,” Reales said.

The Resilient Minds component, guided by the theme “Handa ang Isip,” encourages students to develop emotional resilience, recognize warning signs, and seek help before problems escalate. Teachers and parents are also urged to watch for concerning behavioral changes and connect students with appropriate guidance and support.

Peer Protection carries the message “See Something. Hear Something. Say Something.” It encourages learners to report bullying, harassment, threats, suspicious behavior, and potentially harmful online activities through proper channels.

The component also promotes responsible social media use by discouraging the unnecessary sharing of alarming content and encouraging students to report concerning posts to trusted adults and authorities.

Meanwhile, Enhanced Campus Security and Response through Community Mobilization carries the message “Bantay Paaralan. Bantay Komunidad.”

It aims to strengthen cooperation among schools, parents, barangays, local government units, police, and other community partners through coordinated preventive measures, effective communication, emergency preparedness, and active community participation.

Under the tagline “Resilient Minds. Kind Hearts. Zero Hate,” CAMPUSAYA seeks to foster a culture of preparedness, empathy, respect, and shared responsibility, ensuring that students feel safe, respected, and supported in pursuing their education.

PRO-NIR said the launch in Negros Occidental marks another step in advancing the campaign across the Negros Island Region, with police, education officials, parents, and community stakeholders working together to prevent school violence and protect children./PN
