San Dionisio bans entry of Estancia residents

ILOILO – The municipality of San Dionisio temporarily banned non-essential entry of residents from the neighboring town of Estancia.

This is a “precautionary measure,” according to Mayor Larry Villanueva.

He issued Memorandum Order No. 006 for this effective Aug. 12 until further notice, citing Estancia having  10 cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Villanueva, however, made it clear that only those on leisure travel would be barred from entering his town.

Movement of essential goods and cargoes will remain unhampered, the mayor reiterated.

Ang mga delivery sang goods wala na ya problema pero ang persona nga wala man lang sang kinahanglanon gid sa amon banwa ginapangabay nga magpaiway sa pagkadto,” Villanueva said.

He disclosed that the town’s recent COVID-19 case might have gotten the infection in Estancia.

The case that Villanueva was referring to was the female fish vendor from Barangay Bagacay and frequently went to the Estancia Fish Port.

This fish vendor was among the four local cases of the town as of Friday.

Other cases include a seaman, a healthcare worker and a crew of a fishing vessel who was intercepted in a Ceres bus in the town’s Barangay Hacienda Conchita.

San Dionisio is the second town in Iloilo province that banned travel from Estancia.

To recall, the local government of Concepcion issued travel restriction last week, barring entry of Estancia residents into their town.

Estancia recorded 10 confirmed COVID-19 cases, latest data from the Municipal health Office showed.

Of the 10, six were local infections, three were locally stranded individuals and one was a repatriated overseas Filipino worker./PN
