KALIBO, Aklan – The winners of SangKalibong Tamboe Contest, one of the events in the recently concluded Ati-Atihan Festival, were declared.
The results of the contest – which was held on Jan. 16 – were announced on Saturday during the Pagpadungog at Magsaysay Park.
Aklanon Troopers from Barangay Poblacion, Banga, Aklan took home the P100,000 grand prize.
Bunggos 0501 from Barangay Santa Cruz, Lezo, Aklan landed in second place, receiving P70,000 cash prize, while Akatsi from Barangay Polacion, Kalibo, Aklan came in third place with a cash prize worth P50,000.
Consolation prize winners – Aeang-Aeang of Barangay Laguinbanua East in Numancia and The God Father of Barangay Poblacion in Kalibo – got P10,000 each.
Other consolation prize winners, which got P5,000 each, were Toronian Hotshots and Royal Scorpio. Both were from Barangay Poblacion in this capital town.
Other modern groups that joined the contest were the Blue Birds, 3J’s Marino, Bantod Smile, Adamas Ace, Was-ag, Cnemuron, Pirates 1962, Road Side, D’Emagine, Delex 300, and Ninolitos.
