SANTA Clarita International School Primes topped the secondary boys basketball Category B of the Iloilo Schools Sports Association Meet.

Franc Steven Tono made 18 points to enable the Primes to defeat John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University 61-49 on Tuesday at the Western Institute of Technology gym in Iloilo City. Kim Rey Servano added 13 markers.

Under Rodel Camacho as mentor, the Primes will face the No. 6 team in Category A for a chance to qualify to the quarterfinals.

Both the Primes and John B. struggled offensively in the first two quarters until Santa Clarita slowly pulled away in the third for a 28-15 edge and prevented the latter from mounting a fight-back.

“I am glad that we are slowly getting the team chemistry going,” Camacho told Panay News. “We have a lot of new players in the team so this tournament is just a matter of getting all the players in the same page.”

In the lone Category A match that day, CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights got back on the winning track following a 70-60 victory over Ateneo de Iloilo Blue Dragons.

Lester Valn Paraico led the Silver Knights with 25 points while Ronald Silorio and Jose Rey Tuya added 18 and 10 points for CenterPhil to keep the third place with a 3-2 card./PN
