AHEAD of the premiere of her horror film “VHS,” Sarah Lahbati spoke about her fears, catching netizens’ attention with her remarks about fictional dolls Barbie and Annabelle.
In a conversation with film director Darryl Yap, shared on Viva Films’ Facebook page on Saturday, Oct. 10, Lahbati was asked, “Kanino ka mas natatakot, kay Annabelle o kay Barbie?”
Barbie is a fashion doll introduced by American toy company Mattel, while Annabelle is a haunted doll from “The Conjuring” film franchise.
“Si Barbie kasi na manika, maganda. Ganda lang siya e. Nung bata ako, ‘yun ‘yung nilalaro ko,” Lahbati said. “So I don’t think I would be scared of her.”
“Pakiramdam ko mas nakakatakot si Annabell the doll because unpredictable siya sa pelikula. Hindi mo alam ang gagawin niya,” she added.
This remark immediately made rounds on social media, with some netizens relating it to actress Barbie Imperial and talent manager Annabelle Rama—the respective girlfriend and mother of Lahbati’s former husband, Richard Gutierrez.
It can be recalled in 2023 that rumors of a feud between Lahbati and Rama arose after the actress’ split with Gutierrez.
Lahbati has yet to comment on the online reactions to her remarks as of this writing.
Meanwhile, just recently, Lahbati seemingly hard-launched her new beau during the celebration of her 33rd birthday. The actress has yet to publicly speak about the identity of the man as well as her relationship with him as of this writing. (Anne Pasajol © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
