BEAUTY knows no restrictions. Pandemic or not, eight Ilongga beauties are vying for the coveted Miss Iloilo 2022 crown.
The coronation night is on Jan. 22, 2022 and will be streamed live in the pages of the Iloilo City Government, the Iloilo Festival Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) and Mayor Jerry Treñas’.
Since there’s a pandemic and large gatherings are not allowed, the pageant will be held in a private place in Iloilo City with a very limited number of participants and audience, according to IFFI executive director Joyce Clavecillas.
Those who will be on ground are the production crew, the candidates and the judges only.
Miss Iloilo replaced the Miss Dinagyang beauty pageant that for many years chose the city’s ambassadress of goodwill. It was first staged in 2020.
The first Miss Iloilo was Rabiya Mateo who subsequently joined and won the Miss Universe-Philippines title. She represented the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2020 pageant in the United States and finished as a semifinalist.
Miss Iloilo 2020 was directed by respected Ilonggo theater and film director, artist and University of the Philippines professor Kevin Pison Piamonte. He returns as the pageant director for this year’s staging./PN
