ILOILO City – As the weather improved, roll on, roll off (roro) vessels and fast crafts bound for Bacolod City and Negros Occidental from here resumed normal operations.
Yesterday, tropical storm “Urduja” left the Philippine Area of Responsibility, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
On Monday even if the weather appeared to have gradually improved according to Lieutenant Commander Ramil Palabrica of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Iloilo, there were still no sea trips yet for those bound for Cagayan de Oro City.
Also on Monday, trips of sea vessels from here to Palawan were still suspended. Palabrica counted 55 stranded Palawan-bound passengers.
Pagasa said scattered rains would continue to prevail over Palawan. Sea travel was not advised over its seaboards, it added.
“Residents of these areas must undertake appropriate measures against flooding and landslides and coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management,” it said./PN
