ILOILO City – “Justice for Claire.” So blared the words on the white shirts worn by the family, relatives and friends of slain businesswoman Claire Diergos. She was laid to rest yesterday in her hometown in Buenavista, Guimaras.
People flocked to her parents’ house in Barangay New Poblacion, Buenavista up to a private cemetery in Barangay Banban.
Diergos was interred around 2 p.m. after a weeklong wake.
Everyone is hoping justice would soon be served.
During the interment, Diergos’ sister Cleoffie became emotional.
“Sa nagpatay sa magulang ko tani kon mapatay kamo sobra pa ang pag-antos nyo. Ngaa ginpa–antos nyo sia sang amo sini,” she said.
Diergos’ three-year-old daughter was brought by her grandparents. She offered a flower to her mother.
Diergos was found dead inside her Montero Sports in Barangay Inangayan, Santa Barbara, Iloilo on Oct. 26. She was believed to have been killed inside her house at Deca Homes Subdivision in Barangay Pandac, Pavia town.
The “faces” of the killers are becoming clearer, according to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office.
In an interview, Police Staff Master Sergeant Francis Lindero, SIT spokesperson, refused to say how many persons of interest or suspects the SIT has but said the movements of these personalities were being monitored.
The angles that the SIT is pursuing are jealousy/revenge, robbery with homicide, crime of passion, and Diergos’ business dealings./PN
