KALIBO, Aklan – The 39-year-old tricycle driver stabbed to death in Barangay Camanci Norte, Numancia, Aklan on Nov. 27 was a victim of senseless violence, according to the Numancia police station.

“Mabilis ang krimen. Walang motibo ang mga suspek, pinagtripan ang tricycle driver,” said Police Staff Sergeant Felizardo Navarra Jr., chief investigator of the Numancia municipal police station.

A 20-year-old construction worker pointed to two companions as the ones who stabbed to death Wilfredo Tamayo Jr.

“Junior”, a native of Imus, Cavite and temporarily staying with his aunt in Barangay Bulwang, Numancia, was arrested on Nov. 29 by operatives of the Numancia municipal police station.

Navarra said the suspects flagged down the tricycle of Tamayo at around 7 p.m. in Crossing Bulwang. They told the tricycle driver to take them to Barangay Camanci Norte.

Tamayo was a native of Barangay Mangan, Banga, Aklan but temporarily staying in Purok 4, C. Laserna in Barangay Poblacion, Kalibo.

Navarra said the suspects had no money to pay the tricycle fare and “for no apparent reason at all” they killed Tamayo.

After attacking the driver, the suspects abandoned the tricycle in Sitio Pigado, Barangay Bakhaw Sur, Kalibo near the dump site.

Security camera footages at the intersection of Roxas Avenue and Pastrana Street in Kalibo helped identify Junior before the suspects abandoned Tamayo’s tricycle in Bakhaw Sur.

Navarra urged the two companions of Junlior to surrender.
